Short Cut Baked Beans

No time to make baked beans from scratch? This quick and easy baked bean recipe will have everyone thinking you spent hours in the kitchen instead of minutes!

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bacon, diced
  • 1 cup (250 mL) finely chopped green onion
  • 3 cans (14 oz/398 mL) beans in tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsp 30 mL molasses, or more to taste
  • 3/4 cup (175 mL) ketchup
  • 1/4 cup (60 mL) brown sugar, lightly packed

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  • Over medium heat, sauté bacon and onion in frying pan. Drain off any fat, then place in bean pot or 6 cup (1.5 L) oven safe baking dish.
  • Add remaining ingredients to bean pot or baking dish and mix together to combine.
  • Cover and bake for one hour, stirring occasionally.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • If you don't have any bacon on hand, you can use canned beans with pork instead of beans in tomato sauce. Skip step 2 of the recipe and combine all ingredients in a bean pot or baking dish as per the recipe!
  • For vegetarian beans, omit the bacon and combine all the ingredients in a bean pot or baking dish as per the recipe.
