Faba Bean Feed Benchmark June 24/18 JUN 25 2018 | Producers

Feed wheat, barley, and corn prices remained largely unchanged across the Prairies over the past two weeks, although barley and wheat prices showed signs of weakening in Alberta. Falling corn price levels in the US failed to produce a similar drop in Prairie corn prices due to a corresponding weaker Canadian dollar. The bigger story was protein ingredient prices, where the escalating trade war activities and rhetoric caused soybean meal to drop by $20-25/T and canola meal by $30/T across the Prairies. Corn DDGS values plummeted by another $30-45/T and have fallen by $45-60 over the past month as we head into a period of lower demand. Feed peas continued to trade in the $260-265/T range in Alberta and Saskatchewan and $265-275 in Manitoba.
