Ingredients

  • 2 frozen bananas, peeled
  • 2 oranges, peeled
  • 1 cup (250 mL) plain Greek yogurt plus more for serving, if desired
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) cooked or canned white beans, drained & rinsed (see notes)
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) vanilla
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) honey or more, to taste
  • 1 cup (250 mL) ice plus more, if desired

Directions

  • Combine bananas, oranges, yogurt, white beans, and vanilla in a blender. Blend until smooth.
  • Add honey and ice, and blend again until smooth. Taste and adjust, adding more honey for a sweeter smoothie, or additional ice for a thicker consistency.
  • For a creamier taste, add yogurt to a glass before adding the smoothie. Stir gently to incorporate. Enjoy!

Notes

  • White beans include Great Northern, white kidney, cannellini and navy beans.

Have not tried it yet but it says cooked beans in the recipe, do canned beans work as well? Thank you

Hi Annika! Yes, canned beans will work perfectly in this recipe. Canned beans are ready-to-use cooked beans. Drain and rinse before using and you’re ready to go!
